Aberavon MP Calls On New Prisons Minister To Scrap Plans For A Prison In Port Talbot With Immediate Effect
Aberavon MP, Stephen Kinnock, has called on the new Minister for Prisons to call time on the UK Government’s plans to build a prison in Port Talbot, describing the idea as a ‘non-starter’ and saying the plans should be ‘scrapped with immediate effect’. In their first clash in the House of Commons since Rory Stewart’s appointment, Mr Kinnock pressed the Minister to abandon the Ministry of Justice’s proposals, and encouraged him to visit Port Talbot to attend a public meeting and hear directly from concerned residents about their opposition to the proposals.Read more

I was delighted to attend an Aberavon WASPI meeting in Baglan on the weekend. The group has really taken shape since the initial meeting that I organised back in October. We discussed the Private Members Bill currently going through Parliament which seeks justice for women born in the 1950s who have been unfairly hit by changes to the state pension age without due notification.
I will keep on fighting for the WASPI and all women until we can secure justice and equality.
