It was great to meet with Cwmafan Primary School Council. We had a great conversation about everything from problems with local littering to the life and times of Nelson Mandela. No shortage of budding Paxmans here!Read more
It was great to be at the Civic Centre to take part in the rally to save our libraries. The Tories' callous and self defeating austerity policies are putting huge pressure on Neath Port Talbot Council budgets. Tough choices have to be made, but our libraries are absolutely vital.Read more
There was fantastic community spirit in Cwmafan for their first ever Christmas tree switch on. Well done to Councillors Charlotte Galsworthy, Rhydian Mizen and David Whitelock, and the whole community for coming together and pulling together such a great event.Read more
There was a fantastic community vibe at the Richard Burton 10k. Over 1,700 took part! It's an amazing event that really puts Cwmafan and Pontrhydhyfen on the map. I dragged myself to the finish line in 52 mins, so 3 mins slower than last year... The old legs ain’t what they used to be...
I visited the site of the Cwmavon landslip to see the work Neath Port Talbot Council have been doing clearing the road and getting the traffic moving again on Cwmavon Road. The road is a vital link to and from Cwmavon and the valleys.Read more
It was great to be at the award ceremony for the Richard Burton 10k. Money was raised for many, many good causes, showing the true spirit of our community. Well done to everyone who organised the event.
My colleague Afzal Khan's Constituency Boundary Bill was debated in the House. It sought to keep the number of MPs at 650 and allows a 7.5% variation in electorate of any constituency instead of the current 5% variation. I spoke in the debate in favour of the Bill and about the impact the current review is having on Aberavon.

I ran the Richard Burton 10k on the weekend. There were almost 2,000 runners this year and organisers had set a new challenging course. As always there was a fantastic community spirit in Cwmavon and it was great to have much needed support from Helle. I finished in a respectable time of 54 minutes and 44 seconds. Well done to all those that took part and to the organisers for another fantastic event.
