Stephen Kinnock MP is attending a public meeting at the Twelve Knights Hotel in Margam, Port Talbot at 1530 on 1 Feb 2019 to discuss fresh and emerging concerns surrounding financial advice given to members of the British Steel Pension Scheme (BSPS) to transfer out of their final salary pension. Concerns have been highlighted by the Regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), which conducted a major review last year and found that the majority of cases to transfer out of a final salary pension were unsuitable.Read more
Aberavon MP Stephen Kinnock Welcomes UK Government Confirmation That Baglan Super-Prison Proposals Have Been Axed
Commenting on the news that Baglan is no longer being considered as a potential home of the new ‘super-prison’, MP for Aberavon Stephen Kinnock said:

Commenting on a report produced for the Welsh Government into the monitoring of vehicle emissions between Junction 41 & Junction 42, which includes the option of closing the junction as a possible way to reduce pollution and meet legal requirements on emissions, Aberavon MP Stephen Kinnock said,

Responding to today’s announcement that President Trump has decided to postpone a decision on the steel tariffs until 1 June, Stephen Kinnock, MP for Aberavon which is home to the Port Talbot steel works, the largest steel works in the UK, said:
‘The only thing that President Trump has achieved through this delay is to cause further uncertainty and confusion. Whilst he plays this ludicrous game of cat and mouse, thousands of steelworkers and their families in my constituency are left in a state of limbo, with the possibility of these deeply damaging tariffs still hanging over them.Read more
Aberavon residents have had the opportunity to air their views on Brexit with their local MP, after Stephen Kinnock organised an event to hear from both sides of the debate. It was the second meeting in the Divided Views, Common Future series and constituents were invited to give their opinion on what Brexit deal they thought would be good for Aberavon, Wales and the United Kingdom.
Over 40 residents attended the session at Port Talbot YMCA with a mixture of views on Brexit. During the course of the discussion they highlighted issues with immigration, jobs, trade and peace in Northern Ireland being particularly significant to them in the Brexit negotiation.
Aberavon MP Stephen Kinnock has once again pressed Prisons Minister Rory Stewart on the Government’s plans for a new prison on the Baglan Industrial Park. Stephen Kinnock Welcomes Select Committee Report On The Post-Transition Relationship Between The UK And The EU
Commenting on the publication of the report, Stephen Kinnock, member of the Exiting the European Union Committee, said:
“This report makes clear that the only realistic post-transition relationship that can satisfy the government’s own Brexit tests is an EEA / EFTA-based arrangement.
“The Committee report sets a series of tests for a successful post-transition relationship that are entirely based on the words and ambitions of the Prime Minister and Brexit Secretary.
