Thank You

Dear Resident,

It is an honour to be elected as your Labour Member of Parliament for Aberavon and thank you to everyone who gave me their support and voted for me.

The turnout this year was the highest since 2001 with two thirds of voters (63.39%) going to the polls. It was great that Aberavon bucked the national trend with the Labour vote holding firm while in other areas of the country a clear message of change was sent to the Party.

Candidate Party Votes Percentage
Stephen Kinnock Labour 15416 48.9
Peter Bush UKIP 4971 15.8
Edward Yi He Conservative 3742 11.9
Duncan Higgitt Plaid Cymru 3663 11.6
Helen Ceri Clarke Liberal Democrats 1397 4.4
Captain Beany Independent 1137 3.6
Jonathan Tier Green Party 711 2.3
Andrew Jordan Socialist Labour 351 1.1
Owen Herbert TUSC 134 0.4

A thank you also to everyone who took part in the election: the electorate with whom we had thousands of conversations; my political opponents and their teams; the officials who ran the election and the hundreds of people who manned the polling stations and counted the ballots into the early hours of Friday morning.

With the election now over I will work tirelessly across the constituency and in Westminster to defend and promote the interests and priorities of the whole community, from Margam in the east to Skewen and Briton Ferry in the west, from the Afan valley to the Sandfields.

I will have a fully staffed office at Water Street Business Centre in Port Talbot, and hold regular surgeries across the constituency for constituents to seek advice, help and support. As your MP my door is open to everyone.

I will be a highly visible and in-touch local MP, making a home in Aberavon and will use my campaigning and organisational skills to provide active, accessible, continual service to constituents;

As a high profile and effective Member of Parliament. I will use my experience outside politics to be a strong voice for Aberavon in Westminster;

As a team player I will work closely with our AM David Rees and our team of Labour councillors to deliver for Aberavon.

Yours sincerely

Stephen Kinnock
MP for Aberavon
