With the tourism season underway Aberavon MP Stephen Kinnock visited Margam Park to meet with the Friends of Margam Park and talk about their plans for the future. The MP was shown around the Friends’ Courtyard Room which serves as a base for the group and met with Chairman and Membership Secretary, Jeffrey Lewis-Jones, and Committee Member David Harris.

Speaking after the visit Mr Kinnock said, ‘It was great to chat with the Friends and hear about the work they do, including guided tours of the estate, protecting the parks natural beauty, raising public awareness and raising funds. They also have exciting projects planned for the future with the prospect of an Exhibition Centre.

‘The Friends have already chronicled a huge amount of Margam Park’s history and they were able to show me some amazing photos demonstrating the changes that have taken place over the years, but also the work that has gone into restoring the beautiful buildings and the stunning gardens.

‘Margam Park is a real asset to the area and attracts people from across the country. The work that the Friends of Margam Park, a group dedicated volunteers, do to help conserve and enhance the park is invaluable to helping make Margam Park the success it is.’
