Stephen Kinnock MP has called for a full and open public inquiry into the contaminated blood scandal. The Aberavon MP joined with campaigners outside the Department of Health to demand justice for the thousands of people affected when they were multiply-infected with blood-borne viruses, including Hepatitis C and HIV, via their treatment with contaminated blood products.

Speaking after the event Mr Kinnock called on the Government to hold a public inquiry and provide justice for those affected, ‘The Government should act now to provide justice to those affected and their families. This has had devastating consequences for the individual and their family, like my constituent Mr Farrugia.

‘The Farrugia family deserve clear answers and proper compensation but this can only be achieved through a thorough UK-wide public inquiry that will release all available official documentation on the scandal for public scrutiny.

‘The campaigners have fought for decades for justice, it’s about time the Government listened.’
