Diolch yn fawr to Criw Cymraeg at Maesteg School for inviting me to hear about the excellent work students have been doing to promote the Welsh language. The school was the second school in the whole of Bridgend to be awarded the Gold Siarter iaith award for their outstanding contribution to Welsh, in pursuit of the governments 2050 1 million speakers.
I was really impressed to hear that it was students who were the driving force of encouraging the promotion of Welsh, and equally impressed at how the teachers and senior school staff supported the students in this ambition.
It was wonderful to hear Shaney-Lee Tucker perform Dacw fy nghariad and Thomas Lewis reciting Y Llyfrgell, as well as hearing about the groups podcast, community outreach, coffee mornings and Christmas campaign!
Well done to Ysgol Maesteg and Criw Cymraeg!
