I’ve done a number of interviews on the appalling situation in Afghanistan.
Talking with Sky News I said that the immediate priority for the UK government must be to secure safe passage for British citizens and Afghans who have supported us. But the long term threat is that terrorists will use Afghanistan as a base to attack the UK. The Prime Minister must set out a strategy for strengthening our counter-terrorism capability.

Three years ago, the Defence Select Committee demanded more UK support for Afghans who’ve supported our military and aid work. Labour has pressed UK government on this.
