Yesterday, I raised a Point of Order on the completely false & deeply misleading claims made by Sunak & his ministers about the size of the asylum backlog under the last Labour Government.

The Prime Minister must apologise to the House & urgently correct the record, as he is duty-bound to do under the Ministerial Code.

Madam Deputy Speaker confirmed that “the Ministerial Code requires ministers to correct errors to parliamentary questions at the earliest opportunities.”

The Prime Minister wrongly claimed that the Tories have halved the asylum backlog since 2010.

But the UK Statistics Authority responded to my letter stating it had in fact increased eightfold – from 18,954 to 166,261.

Shameless from the Prime Minister.
