In today’s Westminster Hall debate on the Effect Of Exiting The EU On Welsh Businesses, I intervened to stress the important role that the European Investment Bank played in funding the new Bay Campus in the Aberavon constituency.

Stephen Kinnock: I thank my Honourable Friend for giving way. The European Investment Bank played an absolutely critical role in funding the Bay Campus which is indeed one of the jewels in the crown of Welsh higher education. Does My Honourable Friend agree that some assurance on how to deal with our exiting from the European Investment Bank is desperately needed from the Government?

Geraint Davies: Yes that’s right. The three primary sources, as my Honourable Friend knows, of funding was the European Union itself; the European Investment Bank primarily; and the Welsh Government gave money as well. We do need to have clarity about future relationships and future funding.
