The brand-new basketball and netball courts at Maesteg Welfare Park are officially open! What an incredible day celebrating this fantastic new community facility.

It was absolutely wonderful to see local school children already enjoying the courts, bouncing balls and shooting hoops with so much energy and enthusiasm (and some adults couldn’t resist joining in the fun either!). These high-quality, dedicated facilities, part of a £223,000 renovation project, are going to be a real game-changer for getting more people in Maesteg, Caerau, Llangynwyd, Pyle, Cornelly and Kenfig Hill active.

A huge thank you to everyone who made this happen:
➡️ Bridgend County Borough Council
➡️ Basketball Wales
➡️ Wales Netball
➡️ Sport Wales
➡️ Friends of Maesteg Welfare Park

I also want to shout out the Maesteg Miners Basketball Club! They are looking for new players aged 11–13 (boys & girls) for their U14 team in the South Wales Basketball League. Get in touch with Coach Ed Ellis at edwynellis@gmail.com, or head to Maesteg Leisure Centre on Tuesdays, 4:30–5:30pm for training.
