Today my thoughts are with the families of two rail workers tragically killed whilst carrying out their jobs in July last year.

The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) has today  published its report into the events surrounding the incident which occurred on Wednesday July 3 at the Margam East Junction.

The report shows improvements are needed to meet the required safety standards and Network Rail must act immediately on these recommendations.

This will of course be a terribly painful day for the families of those who died, their colleagues, the driver of the train and all on board at the time.
