I was invited by Skewen and District Historical Society to see the unveiling of Sir Samuel Thomas Evans’ grave, which they have restored using a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The grave was falling apart and definitely not fitting for a man of Sir Samuel’s stature. I was really pleased to see the high standard they have restored it to.
They also put on a great exhibition about Sir Samuel and his life in St John’s church, where his grave is located; some local schools have also started teaching about the local legend after Skewen Historical Society got in touch with them.
