It was absolutely brilliant to visit South Wales Miners’ Museum last week, ahead of the fantastic event they held this week.
It was fantastic to be shown around the museum and hear about the working conditions in the mines here in South Wales, as well as see the on-site blacksmith and the fantastic Glyndwr steam train which was built by William Thomas. The steam train is a working train and I am told school children thoroughly enjoy watching it travel along the tracks.
The museum is a fantastic way to learn about the history of mining in South Wales and I fully recommend everyone pays the museum a visit. School visits are welcomed by the museum too.
The museum relies on volunteers, so I encourage anyone who is interested to volunteer!
