Aberavon MP, Stephen Kinnock, has celebrated the contribution of small firms in his Constituency as part of this year’s Small Business Saturday, which took place on Saturday 5th December.

Launched in 2013, Small Business Saturday aims to bring a boost to local high streets across the UK by encouraging consumers to ‘shop small’ and celebrate the contribution of entrepreneurs and small firms. In 2014, 16.5 million Britons visited a local independent store – 2.7million up on Small Business Saturday in 2013.

Mr Kinnock visited a number of local businesses in Port Talbot to back the campaign, including Selections Gift Shop, The Flower Box and Jersey Bakery.

Mr Kinnock said,

“It was great to be able to meet with local business owners to raise awareness for the Small Business Saturday campaign. We should do all we can to thank them for the vital contribution they make to the local economy, adding to the local community and boosting diversity in our shopping centres.”
