It was a pleasure to pay a visit to the Opportunity Hub at the Aberafan Shopping Centre today.

I heard about all of the fantastic work the staff from the Communities for Work + team and others are doing to help get people back into work. The team provides help with looking over CVs, and other practical help; such as training and help getting equipment necessary for some jobs.

They have qualified youth workers, manage a range of adult learning and have an apprenticeship pathway for young people.
NPT Youth Service are there regularly, and Amazon, the DVLA, local security companies and local care companies have all recently held recruitment events there, offering great opportunities for employment to people from Aberavon.

The Opportunity Hub was also used as a warm hub for the winter. Everyone there does a brilliant job and if you’re currently thinking about looking for employment, it’s definitely worth dropping in.
